Back in Calgary. Feels soooo good. PA was really interesting in a lot of ways, but it was draining. There was the transition from Engineer to Youth Minister to Engineer, that was hard. The work was tough too. It was neat being in the mine, but it grows weary after a while... dark, damp, muddy, rubber boots... ugh.
BUT! We finished early, so I was home by wednesday night which was awesome. Thursday went shopping, friday hit sunshine with Karen, Saturday went cross country skiing with Karen, sunday was laze with... ok, you get the point. Yeah, was totally missin her too. You know you hit those points where you REALLY REALLY wanna be around the other person... was having one of those. I think I got a good fix this weekend though. Now I'm on 2 more days off too, which is awesome cuz I can catch up on all the other stuff I didn't do on the weekend, like laundry :D
So on to sunshine... mmm.... snow was okay, not great but decent enough for early season. It was awesome to downhill again too. I missed last season and I was scared cuz my feet were causing so many problems last time I went, but it was gravy. Three cruisy warm ups and they were pretty cramped up, but it seemed to go away after that and I could get the boots tight and into a nice performance setting and start doing some stuff. I slowly ramped up from cruising big turns to dropping small rocks (I think about 5 feet was the biggest, if that) little jumps, some medium bumps, and some agressive tight carving. If I can get out a few more days (1 or 2 at least) before Christmas then I think I'll be doing some really challenging stuff.
Ah well, getting long and I need a shower
