I thought the last one was so funny that I'd do more.
Unknow reason, but a woman is not supposed to get married in the same church she was baptised in... I guess that's why you go to the bride's Mother's original Parish.
The bride isn't supposed to see the whole of the wedding ceremony before in case it jinxes the wedding from occuring
If the bride cries during the ceremony it's good, if she cries at any other point of the celebrations, it foreshadows a life of tears.
Back in the day, that whole not seeing the bride thing was so severe that the groom was supposed to face forward as she came up the aisle and not turn to look at her until the vows.
Throwing shoes at the couple as they leave (or tieing them to the car) was to symbolize that the groom didn't drag her away without a fight (to the marital bed that is), and also to symbolize the transfer of authority from her father to the groom, back in the day her dad would hand one of her shoes to the groom and he would hit her on the head with it.
That's all for now, I'm sure there will be a part 3 or part 4 soon.
