Okay... so I just got back from 'babysitting' for the first time in my life.
For those of you who don't know, I have somewhat of a phobia of kids under about 12. Typically it involves stress, discomfort, and on occasion crippling fear.
So why was I 'babysitting' tonight you might ask? I guess it has something to do with having an awesome girlfriend, who REALLY wanted me to meet her niece. Okay, that makes it sound kinda forced. It was really important to her, and I love her, so it is thus important to me.
And how did it go you might ask? Well, a little girl who is apparently not so keen on boys (she's a little over 1) took a shining to me, and next thing I know, she's sitting on my lap for two hours while me and Erin 'read' to her (and by 'read' I mean, I'd hold the book and she'd randomly flip pages). SO not what I expected on more than one level. First of all, yeah... me having a baby on my lap... hahahaha... NOT expecting that. Second... it wasn't so bad... she was a cute kid. I didn't get stressed out, freaked out, or any of the above, even when all of the Fitz' were standing there marvelling that she liked me (Me plus babies is one thing, me plus babies plus spectators = freak out). I'd almost go so far as to say it was kinda fun! Having Erin right beside me the whole time helped a lot... I knew that if I started getting on edge or anything weird happened she'd be right there to take over, but I'm definitely glad I got the couple hours over there.
I'm also glad that Cas waited until I was leaving to do anything that constitues 'gross'. Hahaha... That's the difference between being the babysitter, and the babysitter's boyfriend :D
